Written In Water
I woke up to the sound of ancient strings
I'm thankful for the stillness that it brings
There’s some comfort in the words she wrote
Takes me to the place where valerian grows
An arrow shot into the wild night
Pulls me down to earth again post-flight
The sweet, sweet smell that almost brings her back to me
And blossoms in the winter, so carefree
If it's written in water or written in stone
Clouds across my eyes won't guide you home
A myth, ascending horses, fuel the night's desire
And trail across the floor the embers of that fire
Stars against the window as we dozed
Chase away the dark through curtains closed
If it's written in water or written in stone
Clouds across my eyes won't guide you home
I lie here on the shore of wakefulness
I feel her fingers soft against my chest
They guide me to the dawn and all it brings
But disappoint imagination's wings
It’s written in water
Not written in stone
Clouds across my eyes won’t guide you home
